While this is a good book it is not the excellent book one might expect from Mr. Guinn. His previous two Christmas books are amazing and I had expected the same of this one. Perhaps from another writer it would have earned five stars, because again it is good, but higher expectations lead to fewer stars when those expectations aren't met.
This book is written in the same first person style and is extremely entertaining. There aren't as many historical references as the focus is on a modern day reality television show and the many hijinks that come along with such a show.
I guess the thing I disliked about it is that it doesn't feel as Christmasy as the other two books. It felt more like a book that was written to capitalize on the first two books. It doesn't have the same wholesome feeling, more comercial I guess.
Overall, it is a good book and would be better if you've never read the other two. If you are only going to read one of Guinns books this wouldn't be the one I'd choose, however, if you love all things Christmas then give it a try AFTER you've read his other two books :)
