Jet Blue! What a relief from all those sky high (pardon the pun) airfares. For $200 you can hit the Carribbean from NY and back again. Not too shabby. Adding to the value is the leg room - more than coach class on any other airline. And when traveling with kids, the DirectTV is a life saver - for you and the other travelers!
I've flown about 20 times with them so far, and I have yet to see an unhappy staff member (well, just one, see below). Their check in and boarding procedures are streamlined and efficient. Drinks and snacks are served quickly and flight attendants are always on hand should you need a refill or an extra bag of peanuts. I've yet to have a delay that was anything other than weather related (well, just one, see below again).
So, about the unhappy staff member and delayed flight that had nothing to do with the weather.... Leaving Florida, we were alerted that our flight would be delayed with no time frame given. Hmmm...it's a beautiful day, odd. Turns out that while Jet Blue is fabulous in most aspects, they have NO backup plans in place in the event a flight attendant doesn't show up for work. That's right folks, our Senior Flight Attendant (I'm assuming she was no longer senior after this flight) didn't show up for work, was not answering her cell phone and therefore, we could not fly. You've got to be kidding??? I'll buckle my own seatbelt and pour my own beverage thank you very much.
Between our experience and the reports of JetBlue flights stranding travelers for hours upon hours on the tarmac, it would seem that the one place JetBlue could amp it up is with contingency planning. I'm assuming that this costs money, hence the low fares.
All in all, pray for nothing out of the ordinary to occur and you are bound to have a pleasant flight. I will use them again.
