First of all, let me say that they are a few spoilers in this review, and I do reveal some of obvious details of the plot.
The first time I watched Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, I was literally rolling on the floor with laughter. Jim Carrey has always been on of my favorite actors, and this movie didn’t change that a bit.
The movie begins with Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey) pretending to be a delivery man so that he can retrieve a stolen dog. The action starts immediately as the dog stealer realizes he’s been tricked and comes out swinging a baseball bat. He smashes Ace’s car as Ace tried to get it to start. Of course there are hilarious comments and things going on just in these first few scenes.
The movie goes on, hilarious event after hilarious event. You see everything from Ace falling off a roof while trying to catch a lost albino pigeon worth $20, 000 to Ace falling into a shark tank while looking for a stolen dolphin.
The main plot of the movie is that Ace Ventura is hired by the Miami Dolphins football to find their stolen mascot, a dolphin named Snowflake. Ace teams up with Melissa, who is in charge of Snowflake, to find the dolphin. Ace figures out that former Dolphin player Ray Finkle is somehow involved in the case, and he has to figure out how. Of course he solves the mystery, but as expected, the answer will surprise everyone.
Just as in any movie with Jim Carrey, there are plenty of silly faces, actions, and sayings that keep the viewers entertained the whole time. You just can't watch Ace Ventura: Pet Detective without at least cracking at smile at Jim Carrey's silly antics.
