If you are a fan of paranormal romance and have not heard of J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series you must have spent the last year living under a rock. This series is a must read! The series introduces you to a whole new world of vampires, fighting, and love. The 1st book in the series is Dark Lover, the 2nd is Lover Eternal. This review is about the 3rd book Lover Awakened. I must warn you that once you start the series your life will have to be put on hold to finish it! I love the writing style and you get to see all points of view- the hero, the heroine, and the villain's. Now if only my local bookstore would quit selling these faster than I can buy them!
Background about the series and main character (from back of book): In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Of these, Zsadist is the most terrifying member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
Story ( as on back of the book): A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion, and terror is his only passion-until he rescues a beautiful aristocrat from the evil Lessening Society.
Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for one another begins to overtake them both, Zsadist's thirst for vengeance against Bella's tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now, Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past, and find a future with her...
Opinion: Zsadist is by far the most ruthless of the brothers. He has been given the short end of this stick- a lot. Bella is a vampire, but yet she has a naive innocence to her. The only thing that kind of gets on my nerves is all the bad guys in the books have names like Mr. O, Mr. X. They get kind of confusing.
I would recommend every book in this series to any paranormal romance fans!
