I rented Katamari Damacy for my PS2 and let me tell you, I almost regret paying the rental fee for this one. Nothing against the fans who love this game, but, it just wasn't one for me. I was in the mood for a fun, unusual, laid back sort of game. Something not as challanging as the Resident Evil or other games I've played, and from what I've seen, it looked like that sort of fun game. In the game you play a prince on a mission to rebuild the stars, constellations, and moon. Which, the prince's father, the King of All Cosmos has by accident destroyed. To do this you have to roll a magical, very sticky ball called a katamari around various locations, collecting increasingly larger objects, ranging from tacks, batteries, chairs, people, and even mountains, until the katamari is large enough to become a star. Sounds unusual and fun hunh? Well it is for about 5 minutes, maybe. The graphics and story are unusual and colorful. rolling the ball around collecting things to make the stars does require a small amount of skill and is easy to reach your goals, but the fun ends there. Once you've rolled one katamari, you've rolled them all so to speak. After that it gets tedious and it's all pretty much the same, because after you complete each task it pretty much turns out the same. Also, another thing for me that takes the fun out of it, the dialog screens with the king between katamari rolls is very long! If you've played this game you'll know what I mean. To me, if this game offered more in the way of more variety of rewards after completed rolls, and moved along and didn't make you crawl through a lot of dialog, it would be fun! Well, fun or no fun, that is for you out there to ultimately decide, however, DO rent this one first before you buy in case this really doesn't roll out the fun for you!
