In Bacolod, a city in Southern Philippines, there are many car rental providers in order to make your trip to this city and the province of Negros Occidental pleasant.
A friend of mine from the United States came over for a visit and she wanted me to arrange for a car rental for her. I went to Katheer Rent a Car. I really like their service. The owner himself personally attended to us. He and his wife tended their office. They were very accommodating and very helpful.
Anyway, at first we rented a van, a Nissan Urvan, so that many people could ride. With it we hired a driver who is also under Katheer. We paid I think around $50 a day for the van and another $10 for the driver (yeah, labor is cheap here so we just tipped the driver). The car and driver was available for 24 hours so we just fed him well.
After five days, my friend decided to drive her way around the city, after all she has an international license and she already got a feel of the traffic of the city. She then rented an automatic sedan for only $40 a day, because she only knows how to drive an automatic car, as opposed to the stick shift cars that are more common in this place. She liked the freedom of having to drive herself because she pretty independent and she does not feel comfortable with having a driver who is with her all the time.
The car was new, a Nissan Sentra, and very luxurious.
In all these cars, my friend had to shoulder the gas, which I think is fair.
I like it at Katheer because they have very new units and they have different vehicles for different uses. Very comfortable and luxurious vehicles because they don't scrimp on accessories. And their service is very good. If there is any problem or concern, we can just call the owner right away on his mobile phone. Talk about personalized service.
