Aout a month ago, the ceiling fan in our kitchen started giving us trouble. My husband checked it out and decided we needed a new fan. So, while shopping at Menards with my mother-in-law I went to see what they had available that wouldn't bust our budget. Amazingly, they had this Allendale ceiling fan on sale. It came in 3 finishes; bright gold, brushed nickel, and antique bronze, which is what I bought.
This ceiling fan is not one that mounts flush with the ceiling. The main housing on the fan hangs down from the ceiling about 10 inches. Then come the blades and finally the lights. We have eight foot ceilings in our kitchen and my husband is 6'2" tall and he only has a couple of inches clearance when he walks under the fan. I would definetly not recommend this fan for any ceilings lower than 8 foot.
The fan has five blades that have two different finishes to choose from. One side is a cherry finish and the other side is an oak finish. We decided to use the oak finish because it matched our kitchen better. It has a light fixture that holds 4-40 watt bulbs. The glass shades are an alabaster color and match our other ceiling lights perfectly.
Like most ceiling fans, this fan has 3 speed settings and can be set to blow the air down or pull it towards the ceiling. The pull chains are a little short for me (I am 5'4") to comfortably reach so we had to add an extension onto the chains.
So far this fan has worked wonderfully and looks very nice in our kitchen. We are very pleased with our purchase and would highly recommend this brand of ceiling fans.
