Omron digital thermometer is a great help in taking accurate readings for the kids easily. Though it is not the latest model, I like it better than the recent ones. It is a very finely designed and equally well functioning thermometer.
Thermometer should always be handy in the first aid kit as it is needed more than the other things in the kit. If there are kids at the home, then one should definitely have a good thermometer at home. I used to have a old mercury thermometer which we used to use. Since we were used to it, I didn't ever thought of changing it as we, grown ups, don't feel any discomfort in using them. But this is not the case with toddlers. They don't like the poking thermometer and when I was checking my son's temperature once, it happened to fall and it was broken. He complained that it was poking and so he slipped it.
So, I bought a digital thermometer as it is easier than the conventional thermometer. I bought Omron digital thermometer at a local pharmacy and it came in 15 $ which is not a great amount.
There is not so much about it's description except that it is very light in weight and it is very easy to use. It gives very fast readings. It just need to be kept for only 20 seconds (under toungue or arm pit) and because of this fastness in reading, it won't be difficult to take kids' temperature readings. It gives beep sound when reading is complete and we don't need to check again and again if reading is complete.
It gives accurate readings as it is proven and it gives readings in both Centigrade and Fahrenheit temperature. The readings appear in numbers on the screen and it is very easy to see the reading as the numbers are displayed in large size on illuminated screen. It is water proof and we can clean it easily and even with water. It runs on battery and the battery life is really very long. I have been using it for a couple of years and the battery is still running without any change in accuracy of readings.
