If you have a little cat lover in your family, you might enjoy Kinderkittens Show-And-Tell as much as we did. This little paperback book was one of my daughter's favorites. The illustrations are delightful and I found this book a pleasure to read.
This wonderful little book was written by Stephanie Calmenson. As soon as we opened the book and saw the class picture of the Kinderkittens, we knew we were in for a treat.
Our day begins in Ms Calico's Kindergarten class. We meet some of the kitty students, Nikki, Stanley, and Sophie. After a few hopping games, Miss Calico plays the piano while the cat children sing a few ryhmes.
Just as the bell rings, Ms Calico announces that tomorrow is Show and Tell! The kitties excitedly try to figure out what they will bring. Sophie is not sure what she will bring for Show and Tell, but it has to be something exciting.
Sophie and her mom go to the park that afternoon. Sophie tries to decide what to bring for Show and Tell. Then she discovers her shadow! She decides it's the perfect thing for Show and Tell, until it disappears while she is in the park.
At home, Sophie thinks about bringing her gold fish or even mother cat's banana shaped pot holder to Show-And-Tell. But she nixes those ideas as not very exciting. Sophie is discouraged.
Today is Show and Tell. What will Sophie do?
The illustrations, by Diane DeGroat are adorable. We also loved the few pages of shadow puppet illustrations so we could practice making them on the wall.
The author brought back the Kinderkittens in a follow up book, Kinderkittens Who Took The Cookie From The Cookie Jar.
This book is recommended for children ages 5-6, K-1. We absolutely loved it!
