I received my Cobalt Blue KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer as a gift about 8 years ago. It works just as good today as it did first time I used it.
The KitchenAid Mixer is very heavy and sturdy. If you purchase one of these, you'll want to find a good place on your counter to leave it out on because it can be a pain to move it. I find the KitchenAid Stand Mixer to be a very nice addition to my kitchen so I don't mind at all leaving mine out.
The mixer comes with a 5qt locking stainless steal bowl, a flat beater, a wire whip and a dough hook. The flat beater is great for things like cake batter, frosting, brownies, ect. The wire whip is great for mashed potatoes and whipping up egg whites. The dough hook is great for making bread.
The top of the mixer tilts back for easy access to the beaters. Once down, it can be locked into place. This mixer has 10 speed settings so you can adjust to just about anything.
One of the features I like most about the mixer is the fact that it is hand-off. If you are whipping up egg whites, you can walk away. You don't have to stand there until they are done. You do need to periodically scrape the sides of the bowl though. This one feature I find so great can be a disadvantage at times. When I make divinity, I know when it is done by the way the beaters feel. Well, if I'm not using my hand mixer, I can't tell. So, I start in with my KitchenAid since it does require several minutes of beating. Once it gets close to done, I'll remove the bowl and finish with my hand mixer. That is the only time my hand mixer is used. This mixer is available in 19 different colors. Along with the classic white or black, they have red, green, yellow, orange, several shades of blue, pink among others.
Anyone in the market for a mixet than can afford the KitchenAid Artisan mixter, buy it. You won't be disappointed!
