The Kodak EasyShare DX4530 was my first digital camera purchase, and my first experience using a digital camera at all. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was!
It has a very easy to use menu on the camera that is very self explanatory. You can choose the picture quality for each photo you take, allowing you to select the resolution. Even in lowest mega pixel, pictures are still clear and pretty sharp. I love how the camera is always ready. There is virtually no delay time, and you can take a picture when you are in any mode, even if you are in the middle of reviewing a photo.
The DX4530 features a 3x optical zoom and 3.3x digital zoom for 10x total. It can take up to 5.0 mega pixels so you can create high resolution prints up to poster size, and you can take video clips up to 60 seconds each. It also has a 32 MB internal memory. I'd say you could probably take at least 20 pictures at the highest resolution before you have to insert a memory card for more storage.
Deciding how to take a great picture with your camera is made easy with all of the different modes offered. By simply turning the dial on top, you can choose from six different options;
•The auto mode automatically sets exposure and focus for you. Takes all of the guess work away, and is great for your general, everyday pictures.
•The night mode does a pretty good job at capturing images in low light situations. It even picks up a lot of objects in the background.
•The landscape mode if good for far away scenery.
•The close-up mode is really nice! There are so many times when you need to take a picture of an object close-up. You need to be able to show writing or details on something. Often times, the picture will end up blurry or washed out by the flash. Not now! This mode provides clear pictures with great attention to detail.
•The sport mode takes great action shots. I have yet to take a blurry photo!
•The video captures great images and the sound quality is pretty good. Sometimes it picks up a lot of background noise, but overall we are very pleased. It's very easy to post videos online so our family and friends can watch them.
The only time I ever had to open the user's manual was when I was trying to figure out how to use the auto timer. It's just another great feature. It has a full, ten second delay so you have plenty of time to get in front of the camera. You don't ever have to be excluded again!
We took this camera with us on our vacation last year to the Caribbean. Even though it is not waterproof, we put it inside an underwater camera housing to take underwater photos. Even taking pictures through a thick plastic case, we were very pleased with the quality! This camera has performed well above our expectations.
There are only a couple of things that I think could be better about this camera. The LCD screen is crystal clear, but it could be a little bigger. It's a little shy of two inches wide, and our other camera has a larger screen. The lens cap has a tendency to pop off easily, so you should always keep the camera in its case when not in use. I'd never just toss it in my purse. Also, I wish the wrist strap was adjustable. It's nice and big to accommodate the largest hands, but I would love it if I could tighten it more securely around my own wrist.
For the price we paid, we thought this was a great value and would recommend this camera to everyone!
