Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS 7.1MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. 12x optical zoom - optical image stabilization - power -rechargeable nimh. We purchased the Kodak Z712 IS camera just before going on vacation. We accidently left the user manual at home, but were satisfied at how easy it was to figure out, even for a novice like me. I used the camera to take the picture for this review. The camera takes gorgeous pictures, especially those from our vacation. The zoom is great. I love the video feature. The camera is a sturdy larger size, which is what I was looking for. The viewing screen is a nice size as well. Now, the downside - sometimes the audio on the video camera is scratchy/static sounding. I do not know what causes this. It happens about 25% of the time and is quite annoying. Also, when you zoom in and out during video, the picture is blurry. Whether this can be fixed with a setting, I do not know. Kodak provides you with 2 user manuals in 4 different languages, but fails to include the manual in it's entirety. They want you to go online to access the complete manual. I would have preferred a complete manual in English, especially for $250. Come on, Kodak! And here is my biggest pet peeve - good luck finding accessories to go with this camera. It does not come with a battery charger. If you are looking for the battery charger and/or the AC adapter, your local store will most likely not carry these. You need to order these online from Kodak and they seem to have a difficult time keeping these items in stock. I am happy with the quality of this camera and have not yet explored all the features, but I do not regret this purchase.

Update On Feb 27, 2008: Update: The AC adapter I ordered from Kodak - the one that is highly inferior and very difficult to use (I think I will review that separately if possible) broke after 6 weeks of use. I do not know if it has a short, or what, but after spending $39.99, I can't use it any longer. I will say Kodak has excellent customer service, so hopefully, I can ship it back for a new one. The sound is still giving us trouble, but the photos this camera takes are great. All photos in my reviews were taken with this camera. The zoom is incredible.
