Photography has always been my thing. I love taking photos. I had wanted a camera for sometime, and at tax time, I got one. It was a gift, so I had no input on the device, (even if I had had input I probably would have chose it more a better model of it.) It does have a spot for a SD Memory Card, and comes with the cable and software. Personally I do not like the Kodak software that it comes with. It takes a long time to load and often freezes my system. Might I add I have a good computer system, so I know it is not my computer. The lens cover, I have noticed after some time, does not grasp on to the rim good anymore. The camera isn't even a year old and the lens cover will not stay on. The good thing about the camera is that it is very user friendly. I am no beginner with digital equipment, but my mother was able to take the Christmas photos this year, so I am impressed!
A down fall to the camera, is that you can save photos from the External Memory (SD Card) to the internal memory, BUT NOT vice versa, I found this out the hard way, when I forgot I had taken my chip out. Now the camera does come with a transfer cable, with you can plug into your computer via a USB port, BUT mine did stop working, I was able to buy one on ebay for less than 2 dollars so I am back in business when I have those minor mess ups.
The camera has 8 different photo setting modes. The best to use is the PASM mode, it pretty much configures itself with the photo you are taking. The night mode works great, I have never had such good pictures of the fireworks display.
It has a video record feature, it works great, the only downfall to it, is that you cannot zoom while you are recording, make sure if your back in the crowd to zoom in before you hit record! I also found that out the hard way during my very first Kelli Pickler concert.
For a avid photographer you know the ropes and this camera is not for you, for someone that wants it for everyday use, or for a beginner in the digital world, unless the faults I mentioned are extremely important to you, I would totally go for it.
