I am lucky enough to live just around the corner from Konow's Corn Maze. Konow's is located at 16849 S. Cedar Road, Homer Glen, IL.Konow's is a wonder place to visit for all your non-scary Halloween fun. Konow's is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from September 26 to October 30. Admission is free for children under 2 and $8.00 for 3 and up.
Konow's is a family-run farm - run by none other than the Konow family. Konow's opens their farm for the Halloween season. We have been visiting this farm for 3 years now and they add something new every year. All of the employees are exceptionaly kind and really go out of their way to make sure you have a fun visit.
Konow's has an amazing variety of pumpkins. They have everything from a tiny pumpkin probably weighing no more than a pound to huge pumpkins that probably weigh more than I do. Also offered for sale are hay bales, corn stalks and gourds.
Konow's offers a huge variety of things to do. There is a petting zoo with horses, llamas, pigs, rabbits, and goats. They have a huge straw/hay play area with straw slides and tunnels for the kids to play in. There are horse rides. One of our favorites is the giant inflatable jumping pillow. Unlike most jumping houses, this is a giant pillow that allows people of all ages to enjoy. It can easily fit a large amount of people on the pillow . Of course, they also have an inflatable bouncy house. A tyke track allows children to race around a track on the cutest John Deere tricycles. Another fun activity is the hay ride. My son's favorite of all was the Cow Train Express. A tractor pulls a train made up of "cow" barrels. The best part of all was when the farmer let my son help him drive the tractor pulling the Cow Train Express.
Konow's Corn Maze, of course, also has a huge corn maze. The main corn maze is an amazing 2.4 miles of trails. They also have a children's corn maze which is just under a mile. Finally there is also a smaller corn maze from their sponsor Star 96.7. There is a total of 3.5 miles of mazes. Every year they have a different maze and different design. This year my husband decided to try the maze himself rather than drag 2 young kids. He was actually able to finish the maze in just under 30 minutes. Last year, I was hugely pregnant and carting around a 2.5 year old and we only managed to get lost. This corn maze itself is worth the $8 admission.
Konow's also has a huge concession stand set up in a barn. They offer your standard concession foods - hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, peanuts, drinks. The best part of the concession stand/barn is the giant corn box. I mean GIANT! The corn box is basically a giant sandbox but instead of sand they use corn kernels. The farmer was telling us that there was approximately 600 barrels of corn in the box and it was from their own farm. This box is probably 12 feet wide by 50 foot in length. One of the pictures I included is of me buried in the corn. We all played in the corn pit for around 30 minutes. Even the baby enjoyed it .... when he wasn't trying to eat the corn. Just be careful though, like sand, corn has a way of making its way into everything. We probably brought home a pound of corn in our clothes and on our bodies.
Konow's Corn Maze is by far the best corn maze in Will County, IL. If you are ever out this way around the Halloween season, be sure to stop by Konow's!
