Kyocera Mita has been making high quality products for several years, but they are still not one of the top-known names when people talk about copiers and printers! This has been our office copier for 10 YEARS. It's very reliable for its age and it's still pretty fast compared to other copiers, although you can buy faster ones now too. The 4230 is a black and white only copier with capabilities to be a fax and printer as well. We do not use the fax function so I can't comment on how well that works, but the printer is quite reliable and we've been using that for the entire 10 years as well.

It has a HUGE paper capacity with 500 sheet holders-4 of them for different sizes if you want. There is a hole puncher and a stapler as well. Over the entire 10 years, I've NEVER had to add staples or take the hole punches out-we use the hole puncher fairly regularly and I do use the stapler occasionally but not TOO often. The holes and the staples are still very accurately placed.

This machine started off very fast and accurate with the copying, but since it's outlived its life expectancy, it's become a little less accurate with the feeder as far as pulling a paper in straight or even at all-it needs new rollers to fix that problem, and I'm sure it would be fine after that minor fix. The quality of the copies was very high at first, too, but again, within the last year or so, the copies have beome darker and not quite as nice. For a 10 year old machine like this, though, it's still pretty dang good.

The bad things about this copier/printer are the following: First, it's VERY BIG! You need a large corner or wall to put it on. The toner cartridges are VERY expensive-the last a long time, but theyu are about $300 a piece for about a month and a half of copying for us. Like other copiers, it will jam sometimes. Kyocera has made it a little easier to locate and fix jams by including a touch screen map of the copier that shows where the jam is approximately so you can go find it and fix it, though.

Over the 10 years we've had it, I'll admit that there were some times that I'd be over there swearing at the machine, but overall, this is a good one and a hard worker. It'll do a good job for you.
