I just returned from my yearly vacation and had to hurry up and write a review so that what happened to me won't happen to you! I booked my stay with La Quinta Inns and Suites through the La Quinta website. For some reason my dates did not adjust in the drop down menu and I did not realize this until I had already finished the booking process. I immediately called the hotel in order to change the dates to the correct ones. The employee who answered the phone was very obviously engaged in a conversation with somebody else. I repeated the correct dates to her three times and she repeated them back to me. I thought all was corrected.

I was wrong. Fast forward two weeks, I drove from Michigan to the NYC area and got to La Quinta to check in. They could not find my reservation. It was then I found out the employee I had talked to had changed the reservation to the wrong dates. Not only that but the employee I was dealing with at check in called me a liar in not so many words when she said that there was no note that anyone else had touched my reservation so there was no way it could be their mistake. I would have to pay the walk in rate, that was of course more, not the book ahead rate. I was also informed that the hotel pool would be closed for the duration of my stay. This was not mentioned in any prior communications or on their website. I was very rudeIy informed that I would have to talk to management in the morning when they got there at 9 if I had a problem.

The continental breakfast was also sorely lacking. The juice was watered down, the fruit was a little ripe, and the coffee was empty.

At 9am the next morning I went downstairs to speak with management and was informed they would not be there until 10. The manager did not arrive until almost 10:30am. After discussing what had happened, she discounted the room a whole $15. At this point I cancelled my 2nd night in the hotel.

This was my first and last experience with the La Quinta brand. I was very disappointed. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable room near New York City.
