Three Christmases ago, a dear friend of ours gave us this Jim Shore "Last Supper" Angel as a gift. I had always admired Mr. Shore's work, but never purchased a piece for myself. My friend on the other hand, had several pieces and always bought them off of QVC.

I love this angel. She is made of a stone resin and like all of Jim Shore's figures, they look like wood carvings.

He got his inspiration from his grandmother, who was a master quilter, and also his parents, who were into American Folk Art. He claims to have over 150 years worth of quilts in his collection and that is where he incorporates the "quilt" patterns on his pieces.

Over the years, Mr. Shore has created tons of figures for Disney and his company partnered with Enesco in 2000.

My angel has so much detail all around her and I keep her out all year long because she's just too beautiful to put away. Even her wings have a quilt pattern on them. The Last Supper scene in the front of her skirt is wonderful. Jesus and the disciples are all placed around the table for the dinner and he has carved so much detail into each man and even placed a heavenly glow above the whole scene. At the bottom under the picture, it states, "Do This In Remembrance Of Me".

I tried to get a close up shot of the angel's face, because her hair is so soft looking and she has a kind expression on her face. Her hands are folded in prayer.

The back of my angel is just as impressive and I included a shot of that as well. The pattern of the "quilt" is continued as well and the blue and white check pattern on her wings.

I love the shadowing he does on this and other pieces and the best part is that his pieces are not all that expensive. Angels like this are in the $30 - $40 range, but of course he makes pieces of all kinds and sizes, so they can go into the hundreds.

You can check out his pieces on most collection websites, QVC.com or www.jimshore.com. He will be on live on QVC tv 5pm EST on December 15th and at Walt Disney World in Florida on the following dates, for my Disney fanatic friends:
