I bought the Tag Reader for my 5 year old son for Christmas and he loves it! There is a great selection of books to choose from and they are all packed with eduational activities that enrich reading and number skills. I have noticed that my son is recognizing more words since he has been using the Tag Reader and his teacher even commented that he has advanced 2 levels in his reading program at school. The Tag Reader is great for taking along in the car or for taking to my older son's hockey practice to keep him entertained. There is a volume control on the Tag and you can also plug headphones into it. When you buy the Tag, you must register with Leapfrog to set up a profile for you child and to download the books onto the Tag. The Tag will hold about 5 books at a time. Your child's progress is tracked and Leapfrog sends you updates as to how your child is doing and what he is learning. I bought the Tag Reader on sale for $40 CDN and the books that accompany it are $14.99 CDN but they go on sale often and you can usually get them for around $9.99 CDN. I find that the Tag Reader is easy on batteries and it is very easy to change the batteries. You do not need a little screwdriver to do so. I can trust the quality of Leapfrog and I am confident that the Tag Reader and books will be handed down to my 3 year old daughter. I highly recommend this educational toy for 5 to 7 year olds.
