San Francisco is a great place to go for a vacation, especially if you live on the East Coast. The contrast in the way people live their lives is amazing to discover. Life in the Bay Area is amazingly relaxed compared to the hustle and bustle of DC or New York.
Some attractions you should be sure to check out on your trip to San Fran include Fisherman's Wharf, where there are a lot of touristy type shops, such as the Hard Rock Cafe. The real reason to visit here is to see the sea lions that lounge on rafts in the bay. There are literally tons of them.
Also check on the MOMA, the museum of modern art, and take a drive down Lomard Street, dubbed the "windiest road in the world." If you have more time, take a ride on a street car. It is one of the few towns in the US that still has them.
Oh, and don't forget Alcatraz Island. Hop a ferry and see that too. And there is a fun interactive science museum called the Exploratorium. It is great for kids and adults.
The only problem I had with visiting San Francisco is (a) my little car did not like driving up those hills and (b) I wanted to move there. It is beautiful. Sorry, I guess that would be two problems then.
