I have been working on the genealogy of the paternal side of my family for about 10 years. The Internet has become a fabulous resource for researching. I used to spend hours at the library going through microfilms. Now I just spend hours in the computer room at home looking up information! Technology has also helped in so many ways to organize all of this information. I still have my manilia folder stuffed with hard copies and notes but I would be lost without my Legacy software. The basic version is actually free but is very basic indeed. For $30 it is worth it to upgrade to the deluxe version. Updates are all free.
Legacy provides hundreds of different reports that can be run from your information and the program makes it so easy to enter and edit all of your research! It will even find broken "links" (where relations are missing) for you. Another feature is that it allows you to post your information to a variety of web hosts which makes a fabulous back up and is also wonderful for sharing with family and friends.
If you are working on any type of genealogy project, I highly recommend the Legacy software program!
