I had no i dea what eating raw meant, until one day i happened to be watching a talk show and Carol Alt was the guest. She was talking about how she started eating raw and how it changed her life, no more allergies, never gets a cold all that good stuff, she had me sold, so i went out looking for her book.
The book is called Eating in the Raw. Carol is very honest and practical, plain english, easy to understand, products she recommends are easy to find, and she even tells you where you can purchase and how much you can expect to spend. At the end of the book she lists a bunch of grocery, specialty and resteraunts that sell raw foods.
The beginning of the book she explains what raw food is all about, recommended temperature of heat safe to use before you destroy amd kill the enzymes in the food. She also explains about the enzymes and their benefits on the body and so on. She tells you how to know if a food is considered raw or not, the key terms to look for, how to be safe with raw foods like animal products, what cold-pressed means, pasteurization, etc....
Also if you have ever wanted to sprout or germinate anything including nuts and seeds she tells you how to do that and offers useful tips to make things easier for you.
Included at the end of the book are some raw recipes like how to make your own almond milk, green smoothies, dill dijon dressing, almond butter, olive paste, salsa, portobello straganoff, spaghetti squash 'pasta', macadamia whipped cream, lemon custard and so many more no cook recipes!
