Recently I purchased a waterproof olympus 1030SW digital camera. Although my camera is already made to take photos underwater, I still wanted extra security for it just in case the battery chamber accidentally was pushed open while in the water.
Thus my purchase: Lewis N Clark Large Waterproof Multi Purpose Pouch.
I found the pouch on Amazon for a mere $7.99, so I did not hesitate to place an order. In about a week my package came to the door.
The pouch is made of vinyl, and resembles a sort of flat frame. Basically you have a rectangular clear piece of binyl in the middle of the pouch, while a transparent colored blue surrounds the clear space. That's why I compare it to a frame.
The pouch is sealed by clipping together 3 seals that resemble sandwhich bags... sort of ghetto, but it works nonetheless. After sealing the 3 seals up, you then clip together two yellow buttons for even more protection from water.
The pouch is waterproof, I tested it in the pool. However some people use it to take pictures underwater. I do not recommend this, because many cameras cannot withstand underwater pressure- so I would't consider dumping any camera into the pouch to take photos.
Second issue is that the pouches carry string is located on the other side of the seal. I would have felt more protected if the string were on the seal side, because who knows if it will pop open. All of your things can fall out if it does, especially if you are carrying it upside down.
Third issue is the fact that a white glare ruins your photos anyway, so I wouldn't bother bringing it in the water to take photos if thats what you plan to do.
With that aside though, the pouch served the purpose I wanted it for. I didnt have a carrying case, and I knew that in the water I would want something light and easy to place my camera in when I wasnt taking photos.
For the price it holds to its promises. It keeps things dry, and is a decent price. I recommend it to those looking to keep certain items dry. Its also a great pouch for days at the beach!
