Lip gloss comes in an almost infinite number of colors, shades, finishes, brands, and packages. Having a bit of a lipstick/lip gloss fetish, I've tried hundreds of different kinds. As I mature, I have found that many lip glosses simply are not appropriate for a grown woman who works in an office Monday through Friday. Many are too shiny, or the coverage is too heavy, or they are scented with some fruity smell. When I stumbled across Loreal Paris HIP Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss, I finally found my "grown woman's lip gloss". In spite of its name, this gloss is not overly shiny and does not give the appearance of unnaturally wet lips. I worried that the "high intensity pigments" (HIP) would prove too dark or unnatural for me, but they did not. The coverage afforded by the color is just shy of a lip stick, but more defined than plain old lip balm. Because it is a lip gloss, Loreal Paris HIP Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss offers more convenience than a lip stick. It can be applied without a mirror, without lip liner, and it is appropriate at the grocery store or at a lunch meeting. The level of moisture can sometimes be a problem with high color lip glosses, requiring the use of an under layer of lip balm. With Loreal Paris HIP Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss, lip balm is not needed. The moisture level is high enough to provide some protection and relief from chapped lips, but also requires frequent touch ups.
