I have grown up with little tikes and now being a parent of an almost 5 year old have owned at some point pretty much every toy ever made by them. I love toys!
We enjoy this sandbox but there are alot of issues with it. For the price tag of $100 I feel it should not have the issues it has, some more major then others. First off, when the lid is on it does not have a complete seal on the sand due to the way it is constructed and the blue dumping piece. Under it is about 2 inches where animals and/or bugs can crawl through. And yes, bugs do. It is not unusual for me to find a spider or other type of bug in the sandbox each time I take the lid off. Secondly, our scoop broke in several places, the actual scoop part of it broke off and then the part that makes the scoop move has cracked in a few places and also has always been very hard to actually get it to scoop and release well. The blue bin you fill with sand and dump also is hard to dump and fills with rain water, thus creating a mosquito problem (and gets icky looking) unless you stay on top of it daily. Finally, I don't care for how hard it is to get the top on and off, it goes over little hooks like that are about 5 inches tall and my son cannot do it by himself.
I do like that there is a build in play area road, although you need a large flat space to lay this out in for it to work well. And I like that it has built in toys vs the tossing the bucket and shoval in. The looks of this are very nice, but looks don't get you far when it doesn't function well.
This is constructed well with no sharp corners and of heavy duty plastic. The body itself is about impossilbe to destroy, but the accessories are a different story of course.
Overall, we like it but I have to be more careful and check it each time before my son plays and set it up for him. I did have to purchase replacement parts also.
