This little tikes discover sounds hammer is a great idea but for what it is a bit costly. It is made super well and constructed of heavy duty plastic with a rubber grip and hammer head (end of hammer) which is great for the little hands. It also has lights and sounds, but $7 for a toy that doesn't have alot of play value is just not great.
This is a toy where if the child is a bit older they need to be supervised because they will use it like a hammer. It is heavy enough to hurt items if hit hard enough, the rubber end helps but doesn't completely make this safe. The lights and sounds are only activated when banging. There is no volume control but is an off/off button which is a must in my opinion!
This is made for babies 6 months and up but doesn't get much imaginative play until the child is around 3-4 then they want a more realistic looking one. I like it and my son loves (he is almost 5) but I feel not much is offered in this toy. I guess for babies it is better. My son will choose a realistic hammer over this one but does still play with it.
