If you are looking for a midsize non-luxury non-hybrid car, then you really have to include the Hyundai Elantra. It matches or exceeds the Civic and Corolla in all of the major categories and in my opinion the 2007 model is just plain sexier than the Civic and Corolla. Hyundai redesigned the interior and exterior completely for the current models so if you didn't like the look of previous Elantras you should look again. I own a 2001 Elantra and while I am still happy with it the 2007 (which my wife drives) is beautiful and stylish (and affordable). It came standard with power (almost) everything while other midsize cars are a couple thousand more starting and don't have power windows. Basically whatever you want out of a midsize car you can get cheaper by buying a Hyundai Elantra.
