The Lutron dimmer is a very solid product, with all the features you could look for in a light switch. I'll start with the one downside to it...since it uses infrared signals from the tiny remote, you need to have a clear line of sight between the remote and the light switch. However, I've found that the signal is strong enough to bounce off a wall and still work.
That said, the light switch has an on/off switch on both the faceplate and the remote, that will fade the light on and off quickly. If you instead hold down the off button, it will actually let you do a delayed shutoff, so you can make it wait 10-60 seconds before shutting off if you want enough time to get to your bed.
The remote has a silver button which lets you store a preferred setting, so you can always jump to a certain light level if you choose. The dimming lets you stop at any level of light that you want, even though the switch only shows 7 LEDs on it.
The dimmer switch also has a screwless faceplate that snaps on to give the face a clean look.
And finally, since the dimmer uses Infrared (IR) signals, you can use it with something like the Logitech Harmony remotes to control lighting in a room where you have a home theater setup.
