Good cashmere is hard to find. There are loads of sites and stores that offer what they term "quality" cashmere. After wasting money at other stores, I wandered onto the Land's End site and fell in love with a soft white baby cable cashmere sweater. Still, having been burnt more than once by the cashmeres offered by high end department stores, I went deeper into where Land's End purchased their cashmere.
I discovered they contract with a small local firm in Mongolia that harvests cashmere in a very eco-friendly way. Taking only the softest whitest hair from the Kashmir goats underbelly, they create a pure plush yarn that is thick and baby soft. The whiteness of these yarns help contribute to the deep rich colors that Land's End customers have come to expect.
There is a secret to getting their top quality cashmere at extremely affordable prices. Listen closely. Every Saturday night Land's End puts out a big array of their items on their overstocks page. Here you can usually find cashmere marked down anywhere from 20-85%. Out of the 15 sweaters I own, 8 were bought through overstocks or private direct catalogue clearances.
If you want truly luxurious sweaters that will last you forever with care, look no further than Land's End. Looking for great Christmas gifts? Take a look at their adorable cashmere hats and scarves. What a lovely surprise they make! Guaranteed to put a smile on your loved ones faces.
