My husband has been shopping for an mp3 player and checking the various models with capacity versus price and decided to go with the RCA lyra. The Lyra has a 4GB hard drive inside that it uses for storage. This gives you enough space for hundreds of songs. The Lyra is capable of playing both mp3 and windows media files. The songs can be transferred to the Lyra in several ways one is simple file copy in windows as the Lyra shows up as a hard drive on your computer. Another way is to use windows media player to synchronize your files. The Lyra has a rechargeable battery that can be charged by either a provided adaptor or by your computers usb connection. The interface is fairly simple to use as there are basically only three controls plus a power button. It has an inch and half display that allow you to scroll through the music that is on the player. You can scroll by using the thumb wheel control or by joystick located in the center of the thumb wheel. An additional feature is that it can be used as a date storage device like a thumb drive for carrying files from one computer to another.

The player features the ability to create play lists or to randomly play songs. It also has a built in graphic equalizer to allow you to Taylor the sound to your taste. We have owned this mp3 player for 2 years it has proved to be very durable. He has dropped it many times and there are hardly any scratches on it. At the time we purchased it was not nearly as expensive as a traditional IPOD and we got more than our moneys worth out of it.
