My daughter always thinks of fun and interesting places to visit in D.C. whenever I spend the weekend there. So for my birthday, my daughter suggested that we go to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Madame Tussauds Wax Museum is located only a few short blocks from the metro station in downtown Washington, D.C. And I am so glad I thought to bring my camera for this. The admission was $20 per adult, and we began our tour with a brief film introduction that outlined the history of Madame Tussaud and her wax figure creations.
We headed into the first room, and all of the wax figures are able to be touched and interacted with. I put my own glasses on Benjamin Franklin because he looked naked without his bifocals and I had my picture taken with him. They offered a few pieces of period clothing at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, so I put on the faux fur coat to have my picture taken with Jack Kennedy. My daughter and her boyfriend really hammed it up for the museum cameraman in the Oval Office replica, and I bought that 6" x 8" photo of them at the end of our tour for $10. And I just had to have my picture taken with the Obama's, Michael Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, and Johnny Depp. Madame Tussauds Wax Museum was a lot of fun, but it's mostly limited to just great photo opportunities with celebrities that I will probably never meet in my lifetime.
