I have a booth in an indoor flea market, where I sell collectibles. It gets LOTS of traffic daily, and keeping the floor area looking nice is very difficult. Lately, I have had a solid burgundy rug in the booth, but it picks up every piece of lint that comes through. Even if I go back the next day, it looks like I haven't vacuumed it in a month!
So while I was in Ross, I saw a 4' by 6' area rug that I thought might look good over the larger rug. It is by a company called Magic Carpet. It has a nice burgundy/rose background, with a floral plush pattern. It looks very elegant (not too busy) but because of the pattern (with some beige and rose colors), I am hoping that it will not show dirt as easily as the solid color larger rug. (So far, so good.) I put it down in the middle portion of the booth, and it really adds to the overall Victorian look that I am trying for. I was able to anchor the edges of the rug with merchandise to hold it in place, so that it will not buck up, as so often happens when you place an area rug over a carpet. The rug will only be spot cleaned, so washing it is not a concern.
I will let you know how it goes in an update, and if this rug helps to keep my booth looking a little neater.
