Fallen Empires is the ninth Magic the Gathering set released. It was released in 1994 and features tribal creatures, creature token generation and cards that gain counters every turn. The reason it was called Fallen Empires is because it depicted the war between the races which led to the crumbling of existing empires. The war took place in Sarpadia and had the following matchups Order of the Ebon Hand and Thrulls, (Vodalian) Merfolk and Homarid, Elves and Thallid, Dwarves and Goblins/Orcs and Icatia's Order of Leitbur and Farrelite Cult.Theset has 187 cards. 102 are functionally different while the others are card art variations.

The set has no rares but uncommons have different printing levels. The set is known to be one of the weaker sets in terms of power level. However, it also has some very useful cards such as Goblin Grenade, Order of the Ebon Hand, Order of Leitbur, Mindstab Thrull, Hymn to Tourach and Icatian Javelineers.

As a player I was not impressed at the set's power level. It is however fun due to the tribal theme. Also some of the set's cards are tournament quality.
