This Magnetic Date Stamp Kit by Making Memories really gives you so many stamp options, but on the other hand, it can be frustrating. I love the little tin organizer that stores all the supplies. It measures only 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" x 1-1/4" high so tucking it in a small space for storage is easy. There are 70 stamps, each which a magnetic backing that attaches it to the magnetic stamp base. This base is very well made, sturdy, and has some weight to it. I also received a pair of tweezers to place the stamps on the base.
I first had to separate all the stamps which had been partially done, but needed to be finished with a pair of scissors. I now had 70 rubber stamps measuring 1/8" to 1/4" in size (do you get where I'm going with this?) That's a lot of teeny tiny stamps to keep track of, sort through, not lose, and keep face side up to find the ones I would need.
I do have a variety of stamping options with my Making Memories Magnetic Date Stamp kit. The stamps included are:
Month titles spelled out January to December
Month titles in abbreviated form JAN to DEC
The years 1980 through 2010
Numbers 1 through 31
st, nd, rd and th - used to make a stamp such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
Stamps with the words "Christmas, Birthday, New Year, Celebrate, Thanksgiving, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter"
Also included are tiny stamps with a heart, star, flower and leaf design.
There's a period, comma and dash stamp.
When I'm ready to stamp whatever project I'm working on I first need to find the stamps I need. This is where it can get frustrating unless I've kept them all face up in some sort of order in the little plastic insert they came in! Now the stamps have to be placed on the magnetic base in reverse order using the tweezers in my kit. There is a handy straight guide line on the base to help me but I could also place them as I want for a more nostalgic homemade look. I also like that I can space the stamps close together to make a small date for a tiny space or I can spread them out for another unique look.
I've not had a problem with the stamps slipping during stamping. If you are looking for just a date stamp, this is not what I would recommend. I will admit to not using this kit as much as I anticipated, only because I'm usually in a hurry, and it takes time and patience to get everything ready. It's not like pulling out one stamp and you're ready to go. This kit retailed for $19.99, I purchased it for $3.99 and for that price it was a good buy.
