Mario Kart DS is the must-have game for the system. It's a fantastic game with fun, creative, varied tracks that I might like even more than those in past Mario Kart games - which I also really enjoyed. The game is light-years ahead of its GBA counterpart: the DS means 3D tracks, separate screens for the action and the map, and multiplayer over Wi-Fi. This last bit is what the buzz is about, and Nintendo has done a really good job with the new game modes. I really like how the new, improved battle mode lasts longer, and how, for the first time ever, they've added computer players, so you can enjoy battle mode by yourself too. The game also has a new type of battle mode that's about collecting coins and and holding on to them; if you get hit with a shell or something, you drop your coins. It's a really fun dynamic. Then there's the missions mode, so you do things like battle classic enemies from Super Mario 64 and do obstacle courses against the clock. By far the most diverse and complete game of the Mario Kart series. A necessary buy.
