Having a small bathroom is a pain. Having one with very little storage is even worse. After spending years running back and forth to the hall closet to get towels and other things, I had reached my limit. I wanted storage space in that bathroom, no matter how I had to get it.
The first thing I did was go online and check home decor and bathroom stores. There wasn't much I liked and most weren't big enough to help much. Others were outrageously priced or had clear fronts, which I didn't want. I visted every store in town that came to mind, but found nothing I liked. Then, I stopped by K-Mart for something and as a side thought, decided to check for cabinets there. Bingo!!
This cabinet is sold under the Martha Stewart brand. It's really quite pretty. Though I am not a fan of over-the-toilet cabinets, this one really wasn't bad. And, it gave me lots of storage, not only inside, but room enough to store a basket between the toilet top and bottom shelf of the cabinet. That's more little stuff totally out of sight, but easily within reach.
The cabinet came as a kit, so my husband put it together in about 1/2 hour. It is anchored to the wall, so it's very secure, yet we could take it with us if we move and easily repair the wall.
Inside, there are 3 shelves that are filled with extra bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotions, creams, hair products and just about anything else you'd find in a bathroom. The shelves are deep enough to hold a lot, yet it's easy to see what is in there.
The front has the look of frosted glass, yet of course, it's plastic. The legs are molded, which is a nice decorative look and part of what sold me on buying this particular cabinet. It looks more like a piece of furniture because they designed it to be as decorative as it is functional.
If you're low on space and want a nice cabinet that doesn't take up too much room, this is ideal. I really love it and if we move, I very well may take it with me. .
Update On Mar 03, 2010: I've been using this cabinet for over a year and am very pleased with how well it has held up, considering it was not very expensive. I open the doors many times every day and it shows no wear and tear. Also, it is very easy to clean with just a dry cloth. I am still very pleased with this product.
