I've been wearing mascara since I was a teenager, which adds up to many years of applications. Over the years I've tried many brands, and several formulas of mascara. I used a Max Faxtor product at one time that had a comb-type applicator versus a brush-type. I fell in love with that mascara and used it until Max Faxtor discontinued making the product. I went on a search for another mascara that used a comb applicator, but I was disappointed to find that no other cosmetic brands used this in their mascaras. I hate finding a product that you love, only to have the product vanish!
Not too long ago Maybelline introduced a new mascara line that--YES--used a comb applicator! I couldn't wait to see if the Lash Stylist was like my old familiar mascara. Turns out it was almost exactly like what I remembered of my old Max Factor mascara! Coincidentally, Maybelline was my first mascara I used at 14, and now it's still my favorite mascara at 50-something.
I buy the waterproof mascara and it lasts all day without smudging. It makes my eyelashes look thicker but I think it's mostly due to the fact that it clumps a little. (Or a lot if you layer several applications.) I happen to like the clumping to get thicker looking lashes, but this may be an issue with other women that want more 'natural' lashes. The waterproof version may be hard to remove. I use baby oil and rub it through the lashes and remove with a tissure. But you have to be carefull not to tug too much or you may pull eyelashes out!
If you want a long lasting mascara, Maybelline Lash Stylist (waterproof) is a good choice. Your lashes will stay swept-up if you keep working the wand as the mascara sets. It dries pretty quicklty. Anyone who uses a waterproof mascara knows they're all hard to remove so that shouldn't factor into your buying decision. This is a good mascara for women who want their eyes to stand out. It comes in a variety of black and brown colors, and I'd say it's a little more than the "natural" look...more sultry. Exacty what I want!!
