A few months ago our dishwasher suddenly died on us so we went on a searchfor a decent affordable dishwasher. We initially purchased a Frigidaire model to match the rest of our appliences but unfortunately it leaked no mater how much we adjusted it. So that went back and I spent the extra money to go up to the Maytag.
We chose it in the store based on the seal that was formed on the bottom edge of the door. A lot of the other brands didn't have much preventing water to escape but the Maytag seemed to have a deeper well and a larger seal on top of that. Upon using it for a while there are a few other features we can't live without now. First off the top rack is angled which allows you to put tall items on the bottom rack such as full sized cookie sheets or large pans. In our older washer you would have to set them across the entire top rack. Also the top rack is removeable so if you have a VERY large item you could still wash it.
The silverware tray is located in the front and center and has an easy to grab handle. There are three washer arms and there is not a center spindle for water like on our older dishwasher.
I do wish it was a little quieter but the price difference between the very quiet washers was a big jump. It does have a delay feature so you can have it run while you are asleep or away at work. Overall it has been a good purchase and our dishes feel cleaner now too!
