This is one of the few Meijer brand products that I don’t think is as good as the name brand pads.
There are a few nasty cleaning jobs that just need a steel wool pad. I try to use them as little as possible. In fact, I usually cut the pads in half or quarters before using because, as we all know, once you get one of these pads wet it will quickly deteriorate. These steel wool soap pads are treated with an anti-microbial product to keep them from getting slimy and smelly, but I don’t think that the steel wool is as good as the name brands.
I think the steel wool is quite coarse. They seem to scrub well enough, but the soap doesn’t stay in the pad well. Before the pads are wet the soap just flakes off like crazy. After they are wet, the soap quickly dissipates. The wool seems to be loosely spun, and the pads fall apart easier than the name brands.
These come 10 to a box, for $1.19, so the price is right.
Of course, there are a lot of surfaces on which you should not use this kind of pad. But when you need one of these, you want a good one. I probably won’t buy these again.
