One of my favorite parts of a Disney cruise is Pirate's in the Caribbean night. For those of you who have never been on one, Pirate's night takes place on all 3, 4 and 7 night Disney cruises. On Pirate's night there is a special dinner in the dining room where the menus are printed on a treasure map that you get to keep and the wait staff all dresses up in pirate attire. Passengers are also encouraged to dress up by either wearing costumes or just something that has a pirate theme to it. Bandannas are given out during dinner so if nothing else, you can wear those. After dinner there is a dance party on deck where Mickey and the other characters dress up like pirates and the party ends with fireworks being shot off the ship over the ocean.
We already had our Pirate costumes when we arrived on the ship but the first night of the cruise we spotted the Mickey Ears Pirate hats in the gift shop and purchased one for each of us. The Mickey Ears Pirate hat has plush Mickey ears on the top and the hat part is a red and white stripped bandanna. The bandanna is made of the same material as a traditional bandanna and had and elastic part in the back so it can stretch to accommodate all head sizes and still stay snugly in place. It is sold as a one size fits all and for once this is a product that really does fit all. It fits my 6 year old son just as well as it does his father.
We purchased our hats on the ship but when we were at Disney after the cruise, I saw these same hats for sale at the World of Disney store located in Downtown Disney as well as the gift shop at the exit of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in the park. We are in the process of planning a trip to go to one of the Pirates and Princess parties this year and are looking forward to wearing our Mickey EarsPirate hats when we go.
