This phone was released back in 2010. At that time touchscreen phones were coming out from every other company, not that it has stopped, but still Micromax being a smaller company compared to the other giants like NOKIA, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Apple introduced a budget phone under $50 with a touch screen and a host of features.
One of the primary features of this phone is that you can use two SIM cards, supporting dual band frequency of GSM 900/1800. I bought this phone for my sister as a gift. The phone has a decent enough larger screen but the display is not that good. The touchscreen is resistive and 3.2 inches in length. Due to the resistive touchscreen you do need to put a little pressure on the screen to use is properly. It’s not feather touch smooth. The reason for using a resistive touchscreen is to make it cheap as capacitive touchscreen are costly to make.
This phone has an accelerometer sensor which is good as it can be used to change music track, play games, change wallpapers etc. The 3.5mm headphone jack is seriously missed in this phone. This is something most manufactures miss out on while creating a new phone. Memory is also very limited and it can be expanded to 4GB only. Internet connectivity was essential for my sister as she will be spending loads of time on Facebook and twitter. This does not support 3G but has GPRS and EDGE which serves well enough for the time being.
Now coming on to the camera; it has a 2MP camera which takes very good pictures. I thought that it would not be good as 2MP is very low compared to 5MP or others. Anyways I took some pictures in low light and under the sun. All were very good and I was shocked with the clarity of the pictures. All in all, the camera is a good one and there are no complaints in that regard. The phone support all common music formats like 3gp, mp4, mp3 and plays videos nicely. The battery of the phone is also very good. It has an 1100 mAh battery which can give upto 5hours of talktime.
Let’s summarize the special features of this phone once again, so that you know exactly why I bought this phone.
1. Dual SIM support (900/1800).
2. TFT resistive touchscreen with 256K color display.
3. Accelerometer Sensor
4. Connectivity: GPRS, EDGE both Class 10 along with Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and USB v2.0
5. Decent 2MP camera with 1600x1200 pixels max.
6. Supports Java, Nimbuzz, Facebook app
7. Plays MP3, AAC, MP4, and has TV-out
8. Predictive Text input
9. Battery is good: Li-Ion 1100 mAh
10. Has a talk time of up to 5 hours and stand by time of up to 192 hours
I have to say that at this price range Micromax X600 is a very nice phone and for those who are looking for a touchscreen phone at low price you can surely go for it. The service is great and it suits the pocket also.
