Microsoft comes out to battle Apple in the MP3 player category. Can they do it?

I got the Zune 30gb Brown color for Christmas as a gift. My first impressions were "WOW A ZUNE AWESOME!". I love the thing. The color is a bit of a turn off, but you can cover that with any old case. Zune accessories are also VERY cheap on eBay, so those shouldn't be hard to find.

30gb is a LOT of storage space. I have filled a little bit for than 10gb with all my music and 1 movie, and some photos. I really like the capacity. Not to much, but not too little. Although, you can never have enough, right?

The size is also a little bit of a turn off. While it is nice and sleek, it is big. This is a problem for some people. I don't mind it, because I keep it in my extra pocket all the time in a hard plastic case, but some people don't have enough room in their pockets for this device. It is also a little on the heavy side. It can withstand a beating though (I don't know from experience....mine is yet to have a scratch or a ding and I don't plan to have one for another year or more :p).

The features are great. You can wirelessly transfer files between other Zunes. Perfect if your friends all have Zunes and you like the same music. I know you can also transfer pictures, but I am not sure about videos. The menu and such is also really good on the Zune. I really like to be able to click instead of scroll like the iPod. The thing I do not like however is the Zune software. Then iTunes software is MUCH better than the Zune software. The battery life is decent on the Zune. You can listen to 15 or so hours of music at least non-stop, and watch 4 or so hours of video. Pretty good in my opinion.

Overall, I love the Zune. It is cheap, has a great interface, has awesome features, and the audio quality is great. Plus it is 30gb, and that is enough for the average music listener.
