The Microsoft Zune at 30GB has more than enough space to satisfy most users. While the Zune is thicker than most video and mp3 players it actually fits quite comfortably in a purse, pant pocket or even a space that is reserved for a cell phone.
Adding music to the Zune is incredibly simple and I have not had any problems in that department. The Zune itself is almost flawless and I am happy with it and do not plan to make a change.
When it comes to the negatives of the Zune I only have two complaints but they are major. The software is awful, even after a recent update released by Microsoft. It is hard to get around in the software and equally difficult to create a playlist. After tons of frustration I finally went to the Microsoft website for help and FAQ was nice enough to tell you to "create a playlist", well gee thanks for the help. With great advice like that is it any wonder why I am almost driven over the edge everytime I have to open the Zune software?
My biggest complaint however is the video portion of the Zune software. Microsoft should add something that will let a user know what a problem is. I spent 4 hours changing avi files over to WMV format because even though the Zune is supposed to accept MP4 video formats, it has rejected everything BUT the WMV videos. However, it almost rejects many WMV videos. after many hours of changing files to fit the Zune formats, the Zune simply rejected 9 videos and accepted only 2 without once mentioning why. This is incredibly frustrating to users, especially when you do not understand why some files are acceptable and others are only good to be trashed in the eyes of the Zune.
Overall, I love my Zune and never leave the house without. The Zune software however makes me reluctant to add more files to my player because it is the most awful piece of crappy software that I've used in a long time.
For those considering a media player, if the screen size is not an issue I would suggest that they go with a video iPod because the software is excellent. If they feel that they can cope with crappy software for a bigger screen, then the Zune is for you.
