I needed a large dog crate to keep my three dachshund pups in safely when no one is home to watch them. My husband and I found a great crate for them at Petsmart. It is made by Midwest Homes for Pets, and it is an x-large 48" size. This crate is good for large dogs, but we keep our three dachshund pups together in it when we run errands. They get along great in it, (usually they sleep) and they keep each other company. The pups can't be left to roam freely when I and my husband aren't home, they get into too many different things. So we feel that they are safe in this crate, and the size is definitely big enough to house the three of them with room to spare.

The measurements are 48" l x 30" w x 33" h. The crate has easy-on/easy off removable doors, is made of a fleck tone pewter with an epoxy coated finish (my pups are chewers and they have not chewed any part of this crate, at least not yet), has a durable, easy to clean pull-out plastic pan, and sets up and folds down for storage. It even has plastic carrying handles, which we have not had to use because right now we keep it permanently set up. The crate also has a divider panel which allows you to adjust the length of space in the crate as you desire. Midwest's website is www.midwesthomes4pets.com and these crates, in different sizes, are also available at Petsmart.

I feel much better keeping the pups safely within the crate while my husband and I are out, rather than taking our chances leaving them roaming freely in a room where, no matter how much you try to puppy-proof it, there are still things they can get into. This is one nicely constructed dog crate. The model number for this particular crate is 1348TD.

There is also a bonus DVD concerning crate training included with this crate.
