Last year I decided to invest in a good quality satchel (or "man-bag"!), one which would look both professional enough to use for work and trendy enough to still look fairly youthful and stylish. I found this bag in a Ted Baker store and instantly loved it. I am a big fan of Ted Baker as a designer and whilst it is not the cheapest brand on the market it definitely offers style to suit either the traditionalist or the slightly loud and funky dresser.
My fashion taste leans more towards the traditional and I really like the fact that this is, for all intents and purposes, a simple bag that is very well made. I like the buckle fasteners at the front, which give it that old fashioned feel to it as opposed to many of the more modern bags which have zippers at the front. Another nice feature is the removable strap which changes the look from a more mature bag carried by its handle to a more city-smart one with a long strap enabling you to throw it over your shoulder.
It also has that genuine leather appeal; the bag is actually looking better as it ages, with the just-off-the-shelf gloss being gradually replaced by a more weathered and blemished appearance which gives it some character.
Looks aside, it is also very practical and can accommodate pretty much everything that I need for work - including my work laptop when I have taken it home on occasion. Inside it has a couple of zipped compartments for loose change as well as holders for pens and mobile phones, which really come in useful.
So overall I am very pleased with this bag: it is definitely made with the modern fashion-conscious professional in mind and I do believe that I have a product that will get better with age and last many years - in that respect I consider it one of my better fashion investments and expect to get good value for money out of it!
