In the 1980s, Milton Bradley decided to step back from producing millions of packages of Monopoly and publish a video game - Abadox. This is a horizontal "shoot-em-up" along the same lines as R-Type Twin Bee. You play some sort of space marine that starts off near the planet's surface and must go deeper and deeper within the earth, which is towards the evil alien's lair. The gameplay is very responsive and the firing is rather quick. Hit detection is fair and you're easily able to see what you're hitting and what's hitting you. Graphics are pretty good. Everything looks like what it'd supposed to look like and even some of the bosses look pretty mencacing. I like how it actually looks like some sort of alien planet instead of a slightly deformed Earth. If you're a fan of the genre, it's worth a play.
