Yesterday, I received a free sample for the Molten Chocolate Cake, a limited edition mini size from the Warm Delights section of Betty Crocker. It looked so good in the picture and the name is enticing too, so I was ready to make it as soon as it arrived, but I forced myself to wait.

Last night, I read the directions and was wondering what size bowl to get out. It wouldn't need to be very big, judging by the size of the package. I opened the box and discovered a bowl inside. It was the tiniest bowl I've ever seen, other than a child's toy. With the bowl came a teeny bag of cake mix and a teeny bag of frosting. I was amused by the sight of it.

All I needed to add was water and then mix it. It took a while to get all the lumps out, which was humorous considering how little mix there was. But once it was ready, I then cut the corner off the frosting package and drizzled it over the cake mix. The box said to squeeze four to six lines across the cake mix, but their idea of lines must be thicker than the ones I was getting. I made a lot more lines than six. There was no way I was wasting one bit of that frosting!

As I prepared this cake in this teeny little bowl, my mind took me back to early kindergarden when we played with things of this size. I chuckled about it as I completed my task.

Now that all that hard work was finished, it was time to cook. Yea!! I put the dish in the microwave and set it for 30 seconds! Yes, that's right. It takes 30 seconds to cook it.

After letting it cool for 2 minutes, I took it to the living room where my husband was sitting. He looked at me and asked, "When did you make that?" I had been gone for such a short time that he couldn't imagine I had actually made dessert.

While holding this tiny cake pan in my hand, I shared a few small bites with my husband. He wasn't overly excited about it, but he ate more than one bite, so I knew he liked it. My first bite was heavenly, but being diabetic and not getting chocolate often, it doesn't take much to excite me. Still, I thought it was good. Not as good as I anticipated, but still good.

There are two other flavors in the mini size: Chocolate Raspberry Decadence and Molten Caramel Cake. Both sound delicious.

The Molten Chocolate Cake has 150 calories, 4.5g fat, 25g carbs and 15g sugar. The net weight is 1.23 oz, so you can tell that there isn't much there.

I have not seen the mini size in the store, so I don't know if it's available yet. For those who want a small treat, this is perfect, assuming the cost is not ridiculous.
