I was stricken with severe constipation earlier this year; it lasted almost 3 months. I was not feeling well and I was annoyed that I wasn't regular any more. At the time I was using suppositories to relieve my constipation, but I didn't like them. They were harsh, uncomfortable, and I was concerned about becoming dependant on them. I told my doctor about my condition and she developed a plan, and Miralax was included in it.
Miralax is a prescription strength laxative that is used to relieve occasional constipation. I used it as directed and it was so-so. It's a white powder and in my water it dissolved well, to the point it was clear, but I could still taste the medicine. And the more I'd use, the more I could taste it. The taste is thick, yucky, and hard to describe. It was somewhat like a mineral flavor. The flavor was hard to bear, but I still used my doc's plan, insisting it would work.
The side effects are: loose, watery, more frequent stools. After drinking the laxative, I had nausea, so I drank it after a meal and it went away. My stomach also started cramping once or twice after I drank it.
The laxative's effect was alright. I had only a few BMs, but they were soft and easy to pass. I think the reason I didn't have a lot of BMs was because this isn't a stimulant and my constipation was severe.
The size I have is 17.9 OZ. It's pretty big and it might last a month of use. I finally started having BMs and I stopped taking the medicine, so I have half a bottle left.
