When you think of Monaco, you will usually think Monte Carlo, and exclusive hotels and restaurants, that us meer mortals can only aspire to. Well I am here to tell you that you can visit Monaco on a budget, and still have a great time.
Monaco is a small principality, and there are plenty of hotels just on the french border that are economic and withing walking distance of Monte Carlo. The Hotel Westminister is a great one to try if you are down that way. It's right on the border, and it's considered both French and Monacan at the same time.
Monaco is truly beautiful, it's built into hills and mountains, and it even has elevators to take you to the different levels. It's also wonderful central to visiting the French Riviera and Italy.
Eating out is not always very expensive. Now don't get me wrong there are lots of exclusive restaurants. They show their menus without the prices, this is pretty much a giveaway, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. But there are plenty of decent restaurants that don't cost the earth. Stars n Bars is a prime example of this.
There is also beautiful gardens to visit, not to mention an amazing aquarium that has everything from sardines to sharks!
Then you have the Monte Carlo casino. You need your passport to enter it and it costs euro10 to go in. It's well worth a visit. It is so opulent and ornately decorated. It's truly fab!
So don't think you can't visit the rich mans playground on a budget, because you can, and it's nice to have a look at how the other half live...
