My 10 year-old son is a HUGE fan of Star Wars. So for Christmas, my husband chose this game for him as a gift. At first he did not seem too excited. In fact, it sat on our shelf for a period of months. He did find great interest in the tokens and used them for other purposes.
However, one day while playing another version of Monopoly, he decided to give this one a try. He was very happy he did and now is a favorite. The concept is basically the same. It displays the Planets and their cities. Since my son is a fan, he is able to talk about the stories that involve them. Instead of Chance and Community Chest cards, you have Imperial and Rebel. One really neat feature is the starships, which replaces the houses and hotels.
We were disappointed with the token pieces. There is no Princess Leia, Chewbacca, CP30, or Han Solo. Plus, I am unsure if we just got defected tokens, but our set included ones that are bent. So instead of our character standing straight up, they stand in a slant.
Overall, we are happy to own Monopoly: Star Wars Original Trilogy Edition. We enjoy the original feel to the board, pictures, and story line. Our family includes a 6 year girl and she does enjoy playing this version as well. As mentioned above the real disappointment is the tokens. If you want the famous characters, including a Snowtropper, you are best using replacement or just purchasing another Star Wars game.
