We purchased a JBL surround sound speaker system for our home. The system came with wire however it was black and lacked the output the speakers could handle. We opted to upgrade the wire to a better quality and something that blended with the wall a bit better. We purchased the Monster THX Speaker Cable.
The package write up says Monster wire transmits the maximum signal strength with minimal noise for "lifelike sound". We have never had any issues with noise. The sound is always clear and robust when it should be.
This THX Speaker wire features Magnetic Flux Tube, which basically means your wires are separated. This helps keep the signal flow in the wire and not crossed. I'm not an electronics wizard, but it’s supposed to help with sound and aid in the reduction of signal loss.
The wires are copper, which is better for bass and frequency range. Monster also touts these wires are precisely wound to "improve clarity, " which is exactly what we wanted from our new speakers-a clear sound.
We found these wires to be extremely easy to route where we wanted them. This must be due to their Duraflex jacket. Our Monster THX wire goes up walls, around corners, and across the ceiling in parts. We needed security the wires would hold up to all that bending. These work. They are also supposed to work well for in wall installation-something we'd like in the future.
These Monster wires are THX certified. I didn't know exactly what to think about that; but in my book, anything certified has to be good. I've since found THX certification essentially means they're movie sound approved--it's a quality issue.
These wires really produce a sound that is unmatched to anything I have heard from any other standard speaker wire we've used. We have another stereo with bose speakers. They don't hold a candle to what the JBL is doing with the surround sound. We hope to upgrade the bose speaker wires soon.
I'm glad we decided to use better wire for the speakers. For sound quality, the aesthetics of the wall wire camouflage, and the assurance these wires will perform is well worth the $1 a foot we paid.
